Constant Improvement

"I am here for a purpose and that purpose is to grow into a mountain, not to shrink to a grain of sand. Henceforth will I apply ALL my efforts to become the highest mountain of all and I will strain my potential until it cries for mercy."    —Og Mandino

We will never arrive; we are not here to reach a destination. We are on a journey, and for us, we find significant joy in that journey. It's about a gut level relentless pursuit of being better than we were yesterday.

Our team consists of individuals who are always improving themselves and stepping out of their comfort zones to become better. We only hire those who display a constant pursuit of personal and professional growth.

We never stop climbing. We give team members a chance to assimilate, and then it's on to the next peak. For those who never stop climbing, this provides opportunity after opportunity to exceed and become more successful personally and professionally. For those who want to stop climbing, it means there are better opportunities for them outside of our team.

We provide many opportunities for our team members to grow. We have competency models for every position within our team. A competency is a combination of behaviors, skills, and knowledge. For example, a few competencies are Drive for Results, Interpersonal Savvy, Strategic Agility, Decision Making, and so forth. We use these models in every team development system we have.

If someone joins our team with the goal of becoming a Chief Operations Officer for one our businesses, we will evaluate where they currently rank in our set of competencies, evaluate the model for the COO position and identify gaps. We will then work with you to create a Professional Development Plan, which will provide opportunities for the individual to develop the competencies needed to achieve their goal.

We will never send anyone through a cookie-cutter training program and naively believe they will emerge ready to be a COO. We develop plans that are uniquely tailored to individual learning and development needs. This could include reading books, articles or case studies, attending conferences, or spearheading new company initiatives. Above all, these plans involve placing talented individuals into situations where they will need to step out of their shells, take risks, make mistakes, and learn.

We do not discourage our team members from making mistakes; we do ask that the same mistake is not made twice. People learn the most from the mistakes they make, and because we value teamwork, no one is ever isolated by their errs. Every team member has the support of a team of individuals who care about their success and are not afraid to question each others' decisions and thought processes to provide feedback.
