The BizLab Big, Hairy, Audacious Goal:
To attain a competitively dominant position in every market we serve within five years of entry and reach $50 million by 2013 while creating a team-centric and intrinsically rewarding culture most known for developing leaders.
Competitively dominant in every market we serve. There is zero room for slack in this definition. We play the great game of business to feel the thrill of winning. We hate to lose - really hate it. So, we look for opportunities and businesses where we have a chance to compete and win. If we don't have a competitive advantage, we find one or we don't compete. That's how we're wired.
$50 million by 2013. This hangs out there like a big, fat matzah ball. We can't ignore it. We constantly evaluate our pace against it and love how it drives us. We expect to beat it, but in the off chance we don’t, we will be able to hold our heads high knowing we spent our all. In BizLab world, it is better to fail than to live with the unimaginative in that "gray twilight that knows not victory or defeat." (T. Roosevelt.)
Team-centric and intrinsically rewarding culture. With one minor exception, the population of the world is made up of others. Life's greatest moments are shared with other people. We celebrate wins together. We approach our culture with care and even reverence as a most precious asset. Can you tell as you read through this site? Our culture passes the sniff test as everyday authentic.
Most known for developing leaders. Leadership centers BizLab. Notice we broadcast "Leadership" front and center on this website. We exist in an unusual environment where leadership is explicitly talked about - all the time. We can't compel ambition or force growth, but we intentionally provide a nurturing context that encourages people to raise their leadership lid.
